  • September & October 2011 - Jewel Lake has continued its independent living development plans with the opening of the Wellness Center. It still has some components to be finished to be fully functional but visitors to the Sales Center part of the Wellness Center will note that its exterior and landscaping have been completed and sales are well underway at this time. The community is also starting its regional marketing campaign of Billboards along I-75. Be on the lookout for the ads that invite visitors to come by and see us and imagine calling our community their home. Also in the study phase of the development is a feasibility report for the senior housing planning phases of the Jewel Lake community. Planning is underway for an Assisted Living phase (Phase 2) and a Continuing Care phase (Phase 3) that may involve elements for nursing, skilled care, dementia, and alzheimer's needs. Be on the lookout for breaking news and plan on coming by and seeing us at the Sales Center.
  • Summer 2011 - News has it that a Kohl’s Department Store and Target are coming to town soon as well as new Olive Garden and Long Horn restaurants. The Petsmart store is finishing construction and a Farmer’s Market styled grocery store is coming to town soon.
  • May 2011 - Jewel Lake completes its revised site planning in order to incorporate the latest community designs by Mr. Westphal. Columbia County gives its preliminary consent to the new community plan. Final approval for the community’s plans should be received from Columbia County in June 2011.
  • April 2011 - Jewel Lake brings on staff Miller Dowdy as its Project Manager. Miller has over 30 years of experience in supervisory roles with numerous types of residential development projects on behalf of MetLife, Bank of America, Wells Fargo, the FDIC, and other institutional investors. He has participated in over $4 Billion of real estate transactions in his career and looks forward to having Jewel Lake develop into one of the premier 55+ lifestyle communities in the region.
  • Fall 2010 - Spring 2011 - Jewel Lake is master planned for a new vibrant 55+ Lifestyle Community. Working hand-in-hand with renowned landscape design and site planning architect, Mr. Don Wesphal, from Rochester Hills, Michigan the Jewel Lake site has been custom crafted by his firm to blend in with the natural environmental features of the centuries old rolling countryside terrain and natural cypress pond. The site will feature 145 custom residential homes in a building style reflective of Key West cottages. Many of these homes will have front and/or rear porches, metal roofs, and rear entry alleys that will allow for a truly traditional home lifestyle for its residents.
  • Spring - Summer 2010 - Jewel Lake begins general amenity construction on its featured Clubhouse as well as its Wellness and Fitness Center. The Community’s entrance gates and surrounding brick walls are all finished and in place. Interior private roads, lake dock, and primary utility infrastructure are in place and the community awaits its final planning design stage for residential lot layouts.
